i was disappointed…it brought up many more questions than it answered (and the filmmakers, despite being at the screening i saw, didn’t seem to be able to answer them). i’m getting a lot more out of reading “lords of chaos,” despite it disturbing the hell out of me.

Metal: a Headbanger’s Journey is a fucking fantastic metal documentary. It does a decent job of covering both death metal and black metal to a reasonable degree for a single documentary. Shit, it’s not bad about covering ALL of metal to some degree.

I’m still planning on seeing this, despite my hopes not being terribly high for it. The true black metal adherents are egocentric and narcissistic, so watching interviews with them is pretty shitty.

They do write some sick tunes though.

As with Nocturnal it took about a week, but I’ve fully digested The Black Dahlia Murder’s new album Deflorate, and my verdict is that it is incredible.

The band gets a shit-ton of hate from all over the place and I’m not entirely certain why (I think it’s the metalcore-esque name) but all you haters can fuck right off. These guys produce the most goddamned delicious riff salad I’ve ever tasted.
